Cording & Shirring

The Cording Foot is a versatile accessory that is used

for shirring or applying trims.

Applying Cords, Trims or Thin Braids:

• Thread a decorative cord, trim or thin braid

through each of the foot’s grooves or slots.

• Secure the threads at the back of the foot by tying

a knot.

• Select a ZigZag type stitch, with a long length and

wide stitch width. (Several decorative stitches make

great choices;experiment with different decorative

stitches.)

• Place your fabric under the foot and sew.

Shirring

Place elastic into a groove or slot, pull to back and

secure with knot.

Select a narrow ZigZag stitch, long-medium stitch

length.

Test to ensure that the Zig Zag stitches over the

elastic thread, not into it. After finishing stitching,

knot the end of the elastic thread.

Sew another three rows of elastic evenly spaced

apart. Adjust the gathers evenly, and then sew a

straight or decorative stitch to secure the gathers

into place.
